PowerPulse News June 2026
The PowerPulse Energy Seminar was awesome
75 energy enthusiasts joined on Wednesday 20 May at Café Depot Duvel Moortgat for the yearly PowerPulse seminar. A short recap on the insightful speakers:
- Thijs Van de Graaf (Ghent University) zoomed in on who has the brightest future: petrostates or electrostates, with the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as a potential game changer.
- Wout Vandendriessche (PowerPulse) broke down what to expect for the European gas supply and storage with a prolonged unavailability of Qatarian LNG.
- Matthijs Germonprez (Alco Energy) explained how a bio-refinery defines and executes a decarbonisation roadmap with a stepwise introduction of CHP baseload, day-ahead optimisation, multi-market aggregator, e-boiler electrification, and renewable generation. More steps to come.
- Last but not least, Bart Adams (INEOS Styrolution) gave an insightful perspective on the status of the European chemical industry with its challenges. The industry is ready for decarbonisation when the circumstances are right.
With these interesting talks and in-depth discussions before and after, the seminar proved again the network and knowledge PowerPulse has to offer.
