New colleagues on board: Jasper Aertsens and Maxime Vuylsteke

Jasper Aertsens recently joined us, bringing with him a strong academic background in Economics and Economic Policy. Prior to joining PowerPulse, Jasper worked at Trilations Organizational Transformations, where he gained experience in business and functional analysis for key players in the energy sector, including grid operators and energy suppliers.

As a Business Energy Consultant at PowerPulse, Jasper will help companies navigate a wide range of energy challenges — from improving efficiency and ensuring compliance to planning sustainable investments. With his strong analytical background and sector experience, he translates complex energy issues into clear, actionable strategies tailored to each client’s needs.

Maxime Vuylsteke brings a strong background in energy strategy, having worked in key energy roles at large industrial companies Beaulieu International Group and Borealis. He has hands-on experience with energy procurement, renewable sourcing, and implementing group-wide decarbonisation initiatives—always with a focus on combining technical insight and commercial value.

At PowerPulse, Maxime will support clients with techno-economic studies related to battery energy storage systems (BESS), power purchase agreements (PPAs), on-site solar and wind projects, and broader decarbonisation strategies. His analytical and pragmatic approach helps industrial companies translate complex energy questions into clear, cost-effective solutions tailored to their long-term goals.

The PowerPulse Energy Seminar was tremendous!

80 enthusiasts joined yesterday at Café Depot Duvel Moortgat for the yearly PowerPulse seminar. A short recap on the insightful speakers:

• 🔍 Laurenz Van Daele (PowerPulse) zoomed in on the past 4 months in the energy sector and what is ahead for natural gas. To glut or not to glut?
• ⚡ Robin Weckx (H.Essers) on the green supply chain concept of Essers and their impressive journey towards a fully electrified site using local renewable production, batteries, EVs incl. trucks, and energy management system.
• 🌱 Brecht De Roo (Carmeuse) explained how a mining and lime producing company deals with its intrinsic CO2-emissions from the production process by energy efficiency, electrification, and novel technologies like low varbon fuels and CCUS.
• 🌍 Last but not least, Mathieu Blondeel (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam)) gave an insightful perspective on the evolving trans-atlantic relationship and the growing power of China in the energy transition value chain.

With these interesting talks and in-depth discussions before and after, the seminar proved again the network and knowledge PowerPulse has to offer.

Katrien Even elected as member of the Board of Flux50

We are delighted and honoured that Katrien Even has been appointed as member of the Board of Flux50. With her expertise and network in the energy intensive industry, Katrien will boost the Flux50-team and its stakeholders where necessary. With this engagement, PowerPulse underlines the ambition of Flux50 to accelerate the energy transition in Flanders, and strengthens its position in the Flemish energy and innovation sector.

Voka Limburg Business Club Energy Transition

On Tuesday 10 June, Benoit Matthys and Jan Gilot filled the opening session of the Voka Limburg Business Club on Energy Transition 2025. Zooming in on

• ⚖️ Energy policy at European, federal, and Flemish level, with topics like flexible grid connections, wind turbine tip heights, and permits and renewable acceleration zones
• 🎙️ Cost drivers and insights in the energy market, with topics like energy sourcing, green energy, non-commodity cost drivers, battery storage and energy management systems

Participating companies are offered an energy health check without obligations that provides a screening of their energy status revealing optimisation opportunities.
